Dan specializes in the general practice of Family Law and the representation of indigent parents in the child welfare legal system. Prior to 2020 Dan was the Deputy Director, Wyoming Guardian ad Litem Division based in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Dan was born and raised on a cattle ranch in Sweetwater County, Wyoming. He attended Brigham Young University where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 1982 with a Minor in Native American Studies. Dan attended the University of Wyoming College of Law and obtained his Juris Doctor in 1985. Dan was the principal attorney in two successful federal class action suits to reduce the populations and improve services at the Wyoming State Hospital and the Wyoming State Training School. Prior to the GAL Office, Dan was the Deputy Director of the Department of Family Services and prior to his stint with DFS, was Senior Assistant Attorney General supervising the Permanency Unit within the AG's Office. In his tenure at the Attorney General's Office Dan created the AG's Permanency Unit and was successful in submitting the grant obtaining the Children's Justice Project. It was during Dan’s tenure as Director of the Wyoming Guardian ad Litem Division that the legislature passed legislation in 2020 establishing the GAL Division as a stand-alone State Agency.
